Customer Service Representative
The Toronto Women's Bookstore is looking for a Permanent Relief/Casual Customer Service Representative. This is a casual labour position with an average of 3-6 shifts per month.
Responsibilities include:
Staffing conference booktables outside the store
Customer Service
Staffing events
Qualifications:
Knowledge/interest in books
Excellent customer service skills
Detail oriented, strong communication skills
Commitment to Anti-Racist & Feminist principles is essential.
Must be able to work both independently and within a team.
Must have flexibility to work weekends, weeknights and weekdays and last-minute shifts. Starting salary is $10.00 per hour.

Job Description: Relief Staff
Terms of Reference/Purpose
To work with the Toronto Women's Bookstore as Customer Service
Representative, and to conduct the activities of assigned tasks within your job description.
Ø Hours: approximately 3-6 shifts per month, less or more as required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Ø Rate of pay: $10/hour
Ø Will respond to phone and email requests re: shifts in a timely fashion
Customer Service
Working on the front desk to provide service to customers that is warm, friendly, accessible, informative and relevant.
Being sensitive and mature when working with customers looking for books or resources on potentially sensitive issues such as sexual abuse / coming out / harassment. Having awareness and knowledge about issues and experiences of racism, oppression, violence, homophobia, transphobia.
Developing and maintaining a knowledge of stock that is comprehensive and diverse.
Having knowledge of resources and events in Toronto for customer referrals.
Offering and taking of special orders accurately.
Maintaining the tidiness of downstairs area.
Sharing with other staff members information from customers / knowledge of stock.
Shelving of books alphabetically by author and section.
Maintenance and changing of displays to feature relevant authors, titles and sections in the store. This includes the front window and various in-store displays.Answering phones at the front desk.
Occasional assistance with returns picking and packing.
Lifting heavy boxes.
Basic familiarity with computers
Book Tables
· Staffing book tables at book launches, events and conferences.
Bringing books to venue, setting up display and selling books.
Special Event Staffing
· Assisting in special events at store. Assisting with event set up (includes moving shelving units, setting up chairs) and event close up.
Staffing box office table at out-of-store events.
General Tasks and Responsibilities
General maintenance & store tidiness
Clear & accountable communication
Attending staff meetings (every second Wednesday at 6pm)
Being an active member of the staff team
