Rebel Music of the Americas / Musica Rebelde de las Americas

Join us for the film screening/panel discussion of Rebel Music Americas.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, from 3 to 5:30pm

Filmed in four countries of Latin America over a two-year period, Rebel Music Americas takes us into the "other" Americas , into the social and political movements rocking the region. From los piqueteros in Argentina , to Lila Downs' stories of growing up between North and South, to the rhythms Afro-Colombian musicians driven off their land, to Chico Césars' benefit concert for the Landless Workers' Movement.

Followed by a panel discussion with Maria Ligia Chaverra ( Afro-Colombian elder who sits on the Community Council of Curcavado in the Choco province of Colombia ), Raul Gatica (poet and spokesperson for CIPO - Indigenous People's Council of Oaxaca , Mexico ), Anibal Kohan (Santa Revuleta's singer/songwriter whose music is inspired by Argentina 's militant unemployed workers, the "piqueteros") and local musician and activist Rosina Kazi from LAL.
