The WRITTENinCOLOUR symposium was started two years ago to provide a space for experienced writers of Colour and Indigenous authors to pass on knowledge to emerging and aspiring of colour/indigenous writers about the often inaccessible world of publishing and writing. It was made up of six workshops that were half a day in length and was a resounding success, receiving incredibly positive feedback from speakers and participants alike.
It was expanded, in its second year, to a full day of workshops. The workshop themes ranged from giving participants tools to break into the publishing world to techniques behind writing dub poetry to simple character and novel development. It was again, such a success, that this year we are expanding it to two days of workshops with over twenty workshops. Moreover, there will be a reading series that will bring together authors from all over Canada .
